When I want a quick dinner that feels a little special, I often make honey garlic chicken.
The sauce is sweet, garlicky and slightly sticky, and it coats the chicken perfectly.
I like this recipe because it cooks in one pan and the ingredients are simple but the flavor feels restaurant-style.

Ingredients
- 2 chicken breasts
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
Instructions
Prepare the chicken
Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Cook the chicken
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken for about 5 minutes per side until golden. Remove and set aside.
Make the sauce
In the same pan add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds. Add honey, soy sauce and butter. Stir until the sauce becomes smooth.
Thicken the sauce
Mix cornstarch with water. Pour it into the pan and stir. The sauce will start to thicken.
Finish cooking
Return the chicken to the skillet. Cook for another 4–5 minutes while spooning the sauce over the chicken.
Serve
Sprinkle parsley on top. Serve warm with rice or vegetables.
Tips
- Do not cook garlic too long or it becomes bitter.
- If the sauce becomes too thick, add a tablespoon of water.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer a lighter salt level.
Storage
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a pan so the sauce stays smooth.
